Danielle Honeyands

Danielle is a dedicated KS3 and KS4 mathematics tutor with more than ten years of experience supporting students through thoughtful, individualised teaching. She serves as a governor at her local primary school, where she helps guide the development of both reading and mathematics. Her interest in maths anxiety continues to shape her approach, encouraging a calm and understanding atmosphere that helps each learner grow in confidence.
Alongside her work in education, Danielle co-manages Birchwood with her husband, Joe. She is a proud mother to her bright and spirited son, whose curiosity and wit brighten her days. She now also teaches Pilates three mornings a week, bringing her steady and encouraging style into her classes. Away from work, she enjoys horse riding, basketball, warm sunshine, and the occasional moment of indulgence with chocolate.

Joe Honeyands is a former teacher and long time maths tutor. He is married to Danielle and runs Birchwood alongside her.
Joe believes that the most important aspect of tuition is building confidence - being that little constant voice letting students know what they can achieve, even if they don’t believe it yet themselves. Joe loves algebra, photography and Turkish delight.

Lexie is a first year Biochemistry Student at King’s College London. I can teach Biology, Chemistry and Maths. I aspire to make teaching engaging and interactive.

Julia Slabbert
Subjects: English Language, English Literature Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology
In my degree I majored in English and Psychology, then completed Honours in English. I was a database consultant for many years before training to become a teacher. I'm an examiner for GCSE and iGCSE English, and a moderator for 'A' level literature coursework.
I believe we should never stop learning, so I undertake various courses in philosophy, foreign languages and I'm currently working on a Master's degree in English Literature.
At KS4, I believe that exam strategy is crucial and that sessions should be focused to specific exam questions to maximise marks, as well as build up essential subject knowledge.

Jasmine Chen is a mathematics graduate with a strong understanding of the subject and its real-life applications. She believes that math is for everyone and it can be fun! Jasmine's goal as a tutor is to provide students with the extra support they need to succeed, tailoring lessons to meet individual learning styles because she understands that everyone learns differently. She strives to make maths applicable, approachable and enjoyable for all students.

Rose O'Brien

Rose is a 1st year Mathematics undergraduate at Durham University with over 4 years experience tutoring students in a variety of subjects. She specialises in making learning engaging and accessible, tailoring lessons to each student’s style.
While currently studying Maths, she also has experience tutoring GCSE English and Science, helping students build confidence and their academic goals across multiple subjects.
Rose’s personal passions include piano, cheerleading and learning foreign languages.

Sophia is studying Physics with Quantum Technology at the University of Exeter. She is an experienced GCSE tutor in Maths and Sciences, dedicating her time to helping students reach their full potential. Sophia tailors her lessons to each individual learner, ensuring students feel supported and engaged. As a Physics student, she aims to share her enthusiasm and help students discover enjoyment in the subjects she loves.
